NL         In deze tentoonstelling zijn drie werken te zien van Xavier Mary. Model of Jeremy Rifkin’s Biospheric City is een maquette van een utopische stad opgebouwd uit gerecycleerde motoronderdelen. Op de tweede verdieping teleporteert Acid Lover Mother je naar de bruisende, borrelende Acid House scene van de jaren ‘80. Onderweg naar de bovenste verdieping zie je Chakra #4. Deze fotogene vliegtuigband creëert een hypnotisch-meditatief effect en stimuleert een gevoel van innerlijke harmonie die de toeschouwer uitnodigt om zijn energiecentra in balans te brengen. Mary’s werken tonen een post-apocalyptisch realisme waar ruwe installaties bestaan uit krachtige poëzie voor het gemotoriseerde tijdperk. De sculpturen met onderdelen uit de automobielindustrie leggen elementen bloot van ontstaansprocessen, transformaties en vergankelijkheid, waarbij artefacten uit ons dagelijks leven vanop een afstand beschouwd veranderen in sacrale relieken.


EN         This exhibition features three works by Xavier Mary. Model of Jeremy Rifkin’s Biospheric City is a model of a utopian city built from recycled engine parts. On the second floor, Acid Lover Mother transports the viewer to the vibrant, bubbling sounds of the 1980s Acid House scene. Heading toward the upper floor you encounter Chakra #4, a luminous rubber tyre creates a hypnotic-meditative effect and potentially contributes to a sense of inner harmony that invites you to balance your energy centres. Mary’s works display a post-apocalyptic realism where crude installations consist of powerful poetry for the motorised age. The sculptures with automotive parts expose elements of genesis, transformation and transience, where artefacts from our daily lives, considered from a distance, turn into sacred relics.
