NL Martin Belou experimenteert met materialen en hoe ze in de loop van de tijd veranderen - onder invloed van water, lucht (oxidatie) of vuur. Voor ALLES STROOMT creëerde hij een diner setting in een etalage, als een soort nature morte. De serre verlichting die sterk in de ogen brand, moet de bezoeker aantrekken en afstoten. De kleine handgemaakte objecten lijken herkenbaar, maar zijn bevreemdend.
Recente solotentoonstellingen en projecten zijn onder andere Foyer at sans Titre, Parijs (2020); pas de fumée sans feu in La Tôlerie, Clermont-Ferrand (2019); Garde Fou bij Bastide Projects, Marseille (2019); Objects, Love and Patterns bij CIAP Kunstverein, Hasselt (2018); Rivier Scène als onderdeel van de Billboard Series van Artlead in Gent (2017) en ‘Théâtre Américain’ bij Levy-Delval in Brussel (2017).
Martin Belou nam deel aan tal van groepstentoonstellingen, zoals Futur, ancien, fugitif – Une scène française, Palais de Tokyo, Parijs (2019); Natuurlijk Kapitaal, Bozar Brussel (2017); Feed me with your kiss, Confort Moderne, Poitiers (2017); RUN RUN RUN, het kunstcentrum van Villa Arson, in Nice (2016), Les fausses dents du prince, Deborah Bowmann, Brussel (2016), en Friendly Faces, Johannes Vogt, New York (2015).
EN Martin Belou experiments with materials and how they change over time - under the influence of water, air (oxidation) or fire. For ALLES STROOMT he created a dinner setting in a shop window, as if it where a ‘nature morte’. The lighting is a greenhouse light that attracts and repels the visitor. The small handmade objects seem recognizable, but are not and contribute to this alienating effect.
